St Hilda's Music

Music at St Hilda’s

Our robed Choir is is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) and renowned for its singing
quality, mixing male and female voices in four part harmony, and led by our very able director of music,
Chris Maddock and is supported by Rosemary Greenwood and Paula Gething.
In this we are continuing a long-standing Anglican tradition. We also include Anglican chant, Taize and more modern worship music from time to time. At Christmas they have supported Carol singing around the local area.

During the Pandemic, the choir recorded items individually at home and these recordings were then “stitched together” into one track to complement the livestreamed service. These tracks are still used each week as the first communion hymn. Since lockdown and the restrictions on singing were lifted, the choir has returned to its practice of singing anthems during services and continues to play its part in our regular weekly and festival Worship.

New members to the choir are always welcome, please contact the Parish Office.
